Amazon Studios, which develops exclusive movies, comics and television shows has confirmed that 5 of the 14 pilot episodes they pitched last month to their customer audience, have been given the go-ahead for production.
Amazon entered the content production race with apblomb when it uploaded these 14 pilot episodes. Amazon’s customer base was encouraged to watch all 14 pilots and provide feedback in order to determine which shows would be commissioned. Amazon took the advice and commissioned 5 of the 14.
“We are thrilled at the enthusiastic customer response to our first original pilots,” Roy Price, Director of Amazon Studios said. “We built Amazon Studios so that customers could help decide which stories would make the very best movies and TV shows.
“It’s exciting to see the process in motion, doing exactly what we set out to do. The success of this first set of pilots has given us the push to try this approach with even more shows—this is just the beginning.”
